HD TV – Mitsubishi WD-82738 Reviews

Mitsubishi recently launched its 738 series of hulking 3DTVs at 65, 73 and 82 inches. The WD-82738 is really a massive update to the WD-60738 within size and price, ranging between $2,599 to $3,799 if you do shopping around, and measuring a gargantuan 82 inches. Well, that’s with what you’ll have to put up for a 3DTV that’s wider than I am tall.

Design and Functionality
There is certainly no quaint means of putting it: This thing is huge. But for a 3D TV, you almost certainly want to go larger than the original 42-inch flat screen anyway. Using the same DLP technologies in most 3D theatres, Mitsubishi promises how the WD-82738 can provide a “larger than life… and fully immersive 3D viewing experience.” Apart from assuring cinema-quality 3D, the WD-82738 plays everything from 480p to 1080p HD video in a 1,920×1,080 resolution and 16:9 aspect ratio. Unfortunately, there is no VGA support in this screen, though it is WiFi and Ethernet capable. Obviously, what this means is it could receive firmware updates easily to keep your 3D experience up to date. Of course, that also means that the WD-82738 can also stream HD content within the web through Mitsubishi’s StreamTV.

The WD-82738 also consists of several 3D and HD visualising modes such as Amazing, Bright, Natural and Game modes. Couple this with three HDMI ports and Mitsubishi just took over as hub for your complete 3D viewing whether it’s via cable, Blu-ray or your gaming system like the PlayStation 3.

Be informed, however, as this line of 3D TVs fails to include any 3D glasses nor does it come with the 3D IR emitter, which both come included in Mitsubishi’s 3DC-1000 Core Kit for $399.99 (street). Not to mention that the package only contains two pairs of 3D glasses. Such may be the price we pay for keeping up with.
